It is a distressing and oppressive duty, gentlemen of the Congress, which I have performed in thus addressing you. There are, it may be, many months of fiery trial and sacrifice ahead of us. It is a fearful thing to lead this great peaceful people into way, civilization

itself seeming to be in the balance. But the right is more precious than peace, and we shall fight for the things which we have always carried nearest our hearts─for democracy, for the right of those who submit to authority to have a voice in their government, for the dominion of right by such a concert of free peoples as shall itself at last free. To such a task we can dedicate our lives and our fortunes, everything that we are and everything we have, with the pride of those who know that the day has come when American is privileged to send her blood and her might for the principles that gave her birth and happiness and the peace which she has treasured. God helping her, she can do no other.

In the last *ysis, every kind of peaceful cooperation among men is primarily based on mutual trust and only secondly on institution

such as courts of justice and police. This holds for nations as well as for individuals. And the basis of trust is loyal give and take. --From Albert Einstein:"Peace in the Atomic Age"

I will sum up my words as follows:

The Juvenile movement of Youth China, as I expect, is a movement for bilingual remolding of essence, is a movement for remolding

spirit and material, for breaking the intellectual classes movement, for joining in the Labor Union, for small organization groups on the bases of villages, and still for enlarging the reliance.

The Children of Young China, and the Juvenile movement is the movement of remolding the world. Young China"s juveniles are the Youth of the world.

--From Li Dazhao:"The Juvenile Movement of Youth China"

I like to look into the mirror. I remember when I was a little girl, I often stood on my toes, trying to find my face in the mirror of the dressing table, which was nearly as high as I was. Now I still like to look into the mirror. Only now, the dressing table is too low for me. As I bend down, I see the face of a young woman, glowing with maturity, confident in her future and fascinated with her own reflection.

The fact that I like to look into the mirror has to do with my granny with whom I spent most of my childhood. I remember clearly that one night I heard her murmuring, "Women can"t be seen. Women can"t be seen." I was so confused as to look into the mirror the next morning to check if I could indeed see myself. Only now as a young woman myself, can I understand that it was not physical visibility that granny had on her mind.

Granny spent all her life taking care of the family, day in and day out. She cooked for her husband and 10 children. But whenever guests came, she and other female family members had to eat by the stove in the small kitchen. At family discussions, she was never asked for her opinion. After grandpa passed away, she had to listen to my uncle, her eldest son, fulfilled her duty as daughter, wife, and mother; yet as a person, she remained little noticed. Even though she could see herself in the mirror of the dressing table, she was never visible in the mirror of society.

I have been living a different life. At home, I make decisions together with the rest of the family. In school, I often take charge of various activities the same as other boys and girls. Not only that, I can see something granny could not have dreamed of─making decisions for my own future. My life has been a series of decisions. I could choose from several universities as I came out of high school. At university, I could choose from a range of subjects from English literature to business law. And now upon graduation, I am again faced with decisions─to further my study or to go to work; to stay in China or to go abroad; to get married right away or to remain single for a bit longer.

It does not matter whether or not I will become famous or rich, but I will treasure the chance to demonstrate my potential and to help other women demonstrate theirs as full members of society, fully visible in the mirror of history. I will treasure it because the abundance of choice that I enjoy came only after decades of efforts made by my granny, my mum, and millions of other Chinese women.

However, the choices to be made by me and others of my generation are a great challenge. The misconception that men are superior to women is still dominating many people"s minds. While men are encouraged to compete and to assert themselves, we are expected to be quiet, loyal and obedient. This is not very different from what is expected of us as good wives and good mothers. The challenge we face calls for a higher level of our personal development and self-determination.

The story of my grandmother and myself mirrors the lives of millions of other women in China and perhaps in the world. Many of them still lead the life of my grandmother. Their worth is not yet recognized. It is the responsibility of a young person like me to work hard and struggle hard so that they too will see themselves and will be seen in the mirror of society.

This is my dream. This dream, I believe, is not only shared by our grandmothers, mothers and sisters, but also by many of our fathers, brothers, husbands and male colleagues.

It will not come true until everyone fully realizes that women can contribute to society and should be guaranteed the right to do so. Women hold up half the sky.

My respected comrades, I think when my name Marx Gorky is mentioned here, some measuring modifiers such as "great"

  "noble"

  "tall"

will be added to it. If we always overemphasize and boast a certain person, we will neglect the achievements others made and the importance of others existing. I wonder if you have ever thought of that. Please believe me. I"m not talking high language on purpose nor am I making myself up. Considering some important reasons, I have to speak so. Say, there are great difference between our ages, but we share the same mother─children of all literature of Soviet Union.

Judging the value and the authors"

  achievements is up to the

readers. And commenting on a piece of works of literature is up to the critic.

Chairman mao has written, "so many deeds cry out to be done, and always urgently; the world rolls on, time presses. ten thousand years are too long, seize the day, seize the hour!"

This is the hour, this is the day for our two peoples to rise to the heights of greatness which can build a new and a better world.

In that spirit, i ask all of you present to join me in raising your glasses to chairman mao, to prime minister zhou, and to the friendship of the chinese and american people which can lead to friendship and peace for all people in the world.

-- america─and i make bold to say that though. he may have had many opponents he had hardly one personal enemy.

His name will endure through the ages, and so also will his work!

When I grow up, I"m going to do what I want to do. I"m going to move somewhere interesting. Paris sounds like a city that I could that enjoy. There are lots of art exhibitions there. I want to be an artist . So how am I going to do it? First, I"mgoing to find a part-time job for a year or tow and save some money. Then I"m going to be a student at an art school in Paris.

What is my dream job? I want to be a doctor. I think it’s great and interesting job. I can help many patient. It’s a hard job but I don’t mind it. I can find some happy in this job. Some people think doctors are work late. I don’t think so. If I feel happy, I can’t feel it’s very late.

If I am a doctor now, I like my job. I don’t regret it, I can say:” I found a good job!” I don’t think this job makes me tired, I think it makes me solidity and happy. I believe I am sure to succeed.

This is all of my dream job. I think I am sure to be a good doctor.

While some people enjoy the relative comfort, stability, and prestige of working at a large company, I prefer to live life on the edge. Given the choice, I would much prefer to work at small company where I could have more responsibility, more excitement, closer relationships with my coworkers, and a greater sense of accomplishment than I could have at a big company. If I worked at a large company, my role at the company would be highly specialized and narrowly defined. At a smaller company everyone has to take on extra responsibilities to make the business work. For instance, if I worked at a small com*r software company as a programmer, I might not only program, but also have to make trips to potential clients for sales. At a large company, the sales department would talk to clients, and I would be stuck in the same boring routine every day with less responsibility. I might less in touch with what the clients wanted if my responsibilities were limited to programming.

I crave excitement, so the idea of working for a small company particularly suits me. While working at a large company can offer more job security, workers don"t usually get any of the annual profits. But if you work for a small company, profits are more likely to be shared at the end of the year. This means that the harder you work, the more potential there is to make a large amount of money. It is also especially gratifying when you can see how your hard work helped to build or save the company, a feeling of accomplishment that is difficult to attain when working in a large company. Finally, working together in a small company creates a sense of special closeness between colleagues. You have to both trust and depend on each other for everything. This closeness is not only between people within the company but can also extend to your clients and suppliers, all of whom you can get to know on a first name basis. Business deals become less impersonal and more pleasurable when you work with people you trust and like. This trust is both deeper and easier to build when you work for a smaller company.

wherefore, o judge, be good cheer about death, and know of a certainty, that no evil can happen to a good man, either in life or after death. he and his are not neglected by the gods; nor has my own approaching end happened by mere chance. but i see clearly that the time had arrived when it was better for me to die and be released from trouble wherefore the oracle gave no sign. for which reason, also, i am not angry with my condemners, or with my accusers; they have done men harm, although they did not mean to do me any good; and for this i may gently blame them.

still i have a favour to ask of them. when my sons are grown up, i would ask you, o my friends, to punish them; and i would have you trouble them, as i have troubled you, if they seem to care about riches, or anything, more than about virtue; or if they pretend to be something when they are really nothing, ─then reprove them, as i have reproved you, for not caring about that for which they ought to care, and thinking that they are something when they are really nothing. and if you do this, both i and my sons will have received justice at your hands.

the hour of departure has arrived, and we go our ways─i to die, and you to live. which is better god only knows.

  good morning everyone:

it was an ordinary saturday morning. i felt a little tired because of the preparation for the mid-term exams. it was not long before my mother came in with a large bunch of white roses picked from the seller’s gardon. during the next few minutes, we were both busy putting them into a big cley case. looking at the flowers, i found the dark sitting room became bright, so did my mood, just like a person gets some fresh air when he feels dizzy. all the feeling of boredom flew away.

then i remember a poem named “life could be worse”, which said:” for the weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means i have been capable of working hard. for my alarm that goes of in the early hours, because it means i am alive. and finally, for too much e-mail, because it means i have friends who are thinking of me. “i learnt that happiness is not the diamond in a necklace, nor a dream far away, it’s just your attitude towards life.

if you realize it, a simple cup of cola with ice can bring you a cool summer, for happiness is so ordinary that it’s right in the palm of your hand.

  thank you!

helping every american with autism achieve their full potential is one of this administration’s top priorities. at the u.s. department of health and human services, we continue to strive to meet the complex needs of all people with autism spectrum disorders (asd) and their families. while there is no cure, early intervention is critical and can greatly improve a child’s development.

perhaps the biggest step we’ve taken to support those affected by autism and their families happened over a year ago, with the signing of the affordable care act. now, new insurance plans are required to cover autism screening and developmental assessments for children at no cost to parents. insurers will also no longer be allowed to deny children coverage for a pre-existing condition such as asd or to set arbitrary lifetime or annual limits on benefits.

also, thanks to the new law, young *s are allowed to stay on their family health insurance until they turn 26. for a young * with autism spectrum disorder and their family, that means peace of mind. it means more flexibility, more options, and more opportunity to reach their full potential.

ultimately, there is more support for americans with autism than ever before. this means more promise of new breakthroughs that will help us understand autism even better. but in order to continue meeting the needs of people with autism, the combating autism act must be fully reauthorized. we still have a long way to go. working collaboratively with important partners, the affordable care act and the combating autism act will allow us to continue important research and develop and refine vital treatments.

there are still many unknowns. however, one thing is certain. we will continue to work harder than ever to find solutions and provide support to individuals with asd and their families. together, we can help reduce disparities and allow everyone to actualize their greatest potential.

kathleen sebelius is secretary of health and human services.

hello, ladies and gentlemen. i’m angela zhang from class 4 grade 8. today, my topic is, “the shanghai world expo”.

first, i’ll say something about world expo history. as we know, the very first world expo, the great exhibition of 1851, took place in the crystal palace in london. uk. ever since then, the goals of world expos have been both high-minded as well as commercial. visitors are able to explore the world outside of their everyday experience—outside cultures, new scientific advancements, and new inventions. world expos have excited and inspired more and more people in the world.

on december3, XX, the bureau of international expositions (or call it bie) announced that shanghai will host expo2010. the bie had received bids from five cities to host expo2010. among the 5 nice cities, the bie chose shanghai at last! it’s really an exciting news for not only shanghainese, but also all of chinese people. here are some details about it.

look at this profile carefully. the title is “the 2010 world exposition ,shanghai, china ”. this is the logo.

and the theme is “better city., better life”.ok, let’s guess who is the image representative? yeah, you’re right, yao ming!

shanghai expo is the first comprehensive world expo held in a developing country. and it is also the first one that takes “the city” as its theme, hoping that it can push forward the city development and help bring about a better urban living environment, just like the theme: better city, better life.

i think, as a student in shanghai, we should learn to be a gentle person and keep good manners from now on. and try to practice english more in order to communicate with foreigners fluently in the near future. because, we’re a part of shanghai!
